A SAMPLE CLASS ITINERARY…
Day One (begins at 1pm CST):
Arrive at Palafox Pier Marina for a stem to stern orientation aboard Splendid Adventure, our Beneteau 393. We’ll load up gear & provisions, then review navigation, sailing theory, and heavy weather precautions. Next we’ll rest and have dinner ashore at one of our favorite local restaurants. Then we’ll prepare to get underway for our night sail.
We will start out early and set sail south in Pensacola Bay. Our evening destination will vary, depending on wind direction & weather. We’ll go over advanced sail trim, trouble-shooting the engine, heavy weather & cloud interpretation, and discuss some practical problem solving. After dinner ashore, the crew will have some time to review, relax, and get a good night’s sleep.
Today the crew will cover emergency procedures, overboard recovery, and then anchor for lunch. We’ll review navigation, prep for the night sail, and then rest before dinner aboard. We’ll take off shortly after sunset and work our way out to the Gulf of Mexico. The crew will need to be on their toes in case the Captain sends a few “emergencies” their way! We’ll sail back to Pensacola Pass and then dock back at home port for some much needed rest.
Safe and sound back at Palafox Pier, the crew will have a chance to review over breakfast, then take the written exam. Finally, we will pump out and re-fuel, then head home with the knowledge to handle a variety of experiences aboard.
